July 4th 2014 Fireworks & Food: The Hoboken Guide to Independence Day

July 4th Fireworks

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks on the East River

This year, the largest fourth of july show in the nation will be held on the East River. The Macy’s fireworks spectacular will start at 9pm and last for 26 minutes, using the Brooklyn Bridge as “canvas” for the show. Last year the fireworks show was held on the Hudson River which gave everyone in Hoboken an amazing view.  While the Macy’s fireworks show will no longer be on the Hudson River, that doesn’t mean you have to trek over to Manhattan on July 4th.

A fireworks show will also take place over the Hudson River, courtesy of the Freedom and Fireworks festival. This all-day festival in Liberty State Park will start off with carnival rides, games, food, music and culminate in the largest fireworks show in New Jersey with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as the backdrop. So where should you watch the fireworks? Our two picks are Liberty State Park or Surf City in Jersey City. Click here to find more information about the event.
